The service provided by First Degree Sports Therapy & Remedial Massage includes the assessment, treatment and management of injuries, whether they are sports related, occupational, recreational or otherwise.

Sports Therapy can benefit many different people, from those who are active and regularly participate in sports to those who have a more sedentary lifestyle, possibly sitting at home or at a desk for long periods during the day.

A range of techniques are used to help return the injured area to its former functionality. The treatments provided and skills used are tailored to the specific requirements of the injury. If required a stretching and/or strengthening programme will be formulated to assist with ongoing rehabilitation.

Deep Tissue Massage – Used to ease tension in muscles, tendons and fascia and stimulate the healing process.

Lighter Therapeutic Massage – Used in areas not requiring deeper techniques.

Neuromuscular Technique (NMT) – Used to release tension created by the nervous system.

Soft Tissue Release (STR) – Effective in releasing severe soft tissue tension.

Muscle Energy Technique (MET) & Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) Stretching – Used to stretch muscle and surrounding tissue.

Ilio-Tibial Band Release (ITB Release) – A specific technique used to relieve tightness in the knee and hip area.

Frictions – Used to separate adhesions in scar tissue and help to restore elasticity.

Therapist Guided Stretching and Strengthing Exercises – Used to gain flexibility and improve strength in specific areas.
